Photo lessons in Edinburgh and throughout Scotland by a Lonely Planet photographer

So why should you hire me to teach you photography? With five years extensive photography experience at the highest professional level I’ve been commissioned to shoot Lonely Planet covers, I have worked extensively with magazines and newspapers all over the globe, covering everything from humanitarian crises in Iraq to catwalk fashion, I’ve done celebrity portraits with time limits of less than a minute and I’ve been the chief photographer at some of the biggest corporate events in Japan. I know what I’m doing and have extensive experience of passing this knowledge onto others. I taught myself photography and approach teaching in a no nonsense, straight to the point way that allows you to leave the lessons and keep building on your own to get where you want to be.

Based in Tokyo until March 2012 and then in Scotland, I am intending to continue teaching photo lessons as I have done in Japan the last few years. With vast experience in travel, fashion, documentary, portrait and wedding photography, I have the know how to help anyone improve their photography skills, whether it be how to get the perfect travel shot or how to light a model to get the best out of a portrait session.

I offer a package aimed at beginner to keen amateur level students who either simply want to improve their overall knowledge and techniques, or eventually move on to a higher more professional level.

I love passing on my knowledge and I teach one-on-one and small group lessons (max 5 people at a time) for sessions lasting from 4-6 hours. Each students receives a small booklet outlying basic techniques, we spend 30 mins-1 hour going over the theory and then we go out and put the theory into practice and you can start to take the photos you really want.

Prices:

One-on-one lessons: 150 pounds per 4 hour lesson.
Group of 2-3 people: 100 pounds per person for a 5 hour session.
Groups of 4-5 people: 75 pounds per person for a 6 hour session.

A testimonial from recent student from Ireland, Brian who took one-on-one lessons totaling 10 hours whom I blogged about here:

“A short note to thank you and compliment you on some very good photography lessons with the unexpected benefit of having a great tour guide as well. It’s only now that I’m looking through all the photos that I realise the amount of techniques you covered, and in a most enjoyable and informative way. Once again many thanks and I look forward to more lessons from you in the future.”
