Off to Korea…

As of tomorrow I will be in South Korea for 2 weeks with my fiancee. We’ll mostly be in and around Seoul. She’s from Seoul, so we like to go over there every now and again from our home in Japan, enjoy the food, cheap shopping and the wonderful under floor heating which is absolutely brilliant when you’ve been out and about in sub zero temperatures all day (it’s minus 12 there today). Last year I went there for 2 weeks and shot solidly for the time we were there and got some nice images that Lonely Planet took off me, so I’m not too worried about going and getting lots of images, so I’ll be traveling fairly lightly, just my 5D mk II, my 24-70 f.2.8 L lens, my 80-200 f.2.8L, my 580EX II speedlight, tripod with video head, external mic, macbook, portable HD drive, spare batteries, chargers, filters, release cables….actually, not traveling that lightly when I think about it. Well, I took the battery grip of my camera, so slightly lighter. Not taking my wide 17-40mm f4L lens either.

As I said though, not too fussed about getting loads of images, will just wander about with my camera and the 24-70mm lens most of the time, only taking my bigger (and much heavier) 80-200mm lens out if I have something specific in mind to shoot. Think we might be heading to a festival one day, so it will be useful for that. I think I’ll probably take a few videos as well though. My tripod is stowed in my suitcase, but my camera bag is hand luggage. I think I am allowed up to 5kg of hand luggage, but my bag is always about 14kg fully packed. Always a worry until I get on the plane with it, I would refuse to get on the plane if they made me stow it. Fingers crossed.

This time tomorrow I’ll be enjoying some spicy Korean food, washing it down with a nice dark beer and enjoying not fully understanding what everyone is saying. Not sure if I7ll be able to blog much, will give it a try anyway and see what I can do.

Sounds altogether fantastic! Have a great trip.
I usually stow batteries, tripod and all those millions of chords and adapters in the suitcase, they can usually be replaced easier than the camera, harddrives and laptop.

Never been to Korea so it´ll be fun to see some images later.
